Our Story
Over ten years ago, Corina and Shari met when Corina’s young son, determined to attend Stanford University, insisted on a meeting with the Cypress Bay High School College Advisor, despite still being in Middle School. An immediate friendship was formed between Corina and Shari while, ultimately, her son went off to Stanford.
The two women quickly discovered they had a shared passion for helping students who did not have the resources to consider attending a top-tier university and never dared to dream about it, despite their intelligence, academic achievements, work ethic, and determination. Perhaps these students had parents who were not college-educated, or college was never even an option to consider due to the cost of tuition, let alone all other costs that are part of the commitment, such as airfare, meals, dorms, and books. Corina and Shari understand how important a college education can be and how it can change not only the trajectory of a person’s life but the people around these students who benefit from their family members or friend having an opportunity to attend college.
It was for this reason that Shari and Corina have worked together at SeeMeForward for the sole purpose of helping these types of students. The two women have successfully assisted numerous students in attending excellent schools such as Georgia Tech, Northwestern, Indiana University, and Penn State while the student incurs little or no cost. Today, SeeMeForward focuses on working with Broward County School students in grades 9-12, helping them navigate many of the complexities and challenges of high school and the college application process. This work has led them to where they want to be, helping students achieve their college dreams.
